Stephen Vitiello

Vitiello is a visual and sound artist but focuses more on the experimental. he takes every day sounds and uses them to guide and envelop the viewer. In 1999 he had a studio for six months on the 91st floor of the World Trade Center and recorded the sounds of Hurricane Floyd.

The work is very interesting, showing how sound effects the viewer’s perception of art. he has sounds of his work on his website here. I think sound adds a lot to the atmosphere and can change the direction and the meanings of the individual pieces of art.
